We had a nice weekend. We went out to eat on saturday at Royal India. Deo had aloo nan (flat bread with potatoes and spices inside), Samosa (peas, potatoes, spices inside some fried dough), and some pistachio ice cream for dessert. He was good there except when he cried because he was playing with a spoon and I think he stuck it too far down his throat or something, Im really not sure what he did with it but it hurt him. The people sitting next to us were talking to him and laughing because he was going "MMMM" really loud. Today Ilich brought Deo in the car in the morning to drop off Alexander at school so I could get a little bit of sleep. He came back and took him for a walk around the buildings so I could keep sleeping. Then I woke up and fed him and it was time for his morning nap so I got to go back to sleep. I didn't wake up until 12 noon for the day. I felt like a new woman.
Ilich slept and we went to buy some new toys at the thrift store. We got another tunnel, a drum and a ball that plays music. I have been wanting to buy that drum for him for a while to add it to his one person band but I couldn't bring myself to spend $20 on it. I bought it for $3! And it looks brand new! Im glad I waited. The tunnel and the other toy was a great find too. He was drumming away on the drum.
Ilich woke up at 5 so we could all go out to dinner together. We went to a peruvian restaurant and Deo ate plantain chips and rice and french fries with the gravy from the Lomo Saltado I ordered. I know thats not very nutritious but that was about all he could eat there. But I am glad he eats anything now that he is so picky. As long as he drinks his milkies im not worried.
The only problem we had this weekend was the sleeping arrangements. I've come to the conclusion that I have to sleep on the floor with Deo when Ilich is here if I want to get any sleep. I am worried that he will roll off if he is on the edge side or that Ilich is going to roll on him if he is in the middle. So I wake up all the time to check if he is okay. And I also pushed Ilich away from him a couple times during the night, I was like stopping him in mid air if he moved at all. So then I made my bed on the floor and Im not going to try to sleep in the bed again on weekends. Deo is in his bed now but when he wakes up around 12 to nurse he won't go back to sleep in his bed.
For some reason I can't put a picture on, I will add it tomorrow.

playing with the boys

Deo is pointing his little finger at everything. It is so cute! I point my finger back and we touch fingers and make noises.

Gram came and brought Deo new toys. Yay!

Deo the little bear! This is an old halloween costume that I made Ilich wear 2 halloweens ago. Deo didn't want to keep it on.

Trying to make him take a nap

and then he runs away

and then he crashes into the toy

We went to the park across the street today in the morning. It was a short stay, it got really hot really quick. There was some other little kids there, probably about 2 years to 5 years old. Deo is really intrigued with older kids. He tries to follow them around. Sometimes there are older kids in his gym class, like a year and a half old or so and he tries to do the things that they do and ends up getting hurt. He woke up super early today and I am tired. Got to get to bed to get ready for another fun filled day of exhaustion! Children are wonderful but i am TIRED!

We had our class again today and Deo seemed a lot more responsive than before. We had such a good time. He looked like he was loving it and that made me so happy. He did a hanging excersize where he hung from a bar suspended from the ceiling (the teacher held his hand in place) and he just dangled there and swung back and forth. It was so cute. He seemed a little frightened at first because he was just dangling by his hands and he has never felt that sensation. But quickly his frown turned to a smile and then laughter. I wish I had my camera!!! that would have been such a good picture. I will not leave the house with out it again, I promised myself. Near the end of the class the teacher sung a duck song (the songs play over speakers around the room with music also) with puppets and he sat there and danced and bopped and clapped to that song until it was over. He was such a little ham, putting on a performance in front of the class. I think he got more attention than the teacher singing the song. He is really into music and playing with toy instruments. He must have gotten that from his Daddy. He loves to dance to music it seems more than any other kids ive met, none of the other kids there dance like he does. When he gets older I definately have to get him into music lessons. he is starting to make sweet music on that xylaphone and that keyboard!

We went to the doctor today and he had to get a shot and a finger prick. Not nice. But the doctor said everything was fine and he is tall for his age, average weight, and a small circumference of his head. The doctor and I talked about how he doesn't sleep through the night because that is when he nurses, and about "giving up the breast" (as he said) when he is 1 year old. That is going to be rough. I'm dreading it already. Here are some pictures of the toilet paper monster.

The crazy cadillac of a shopping cart that I now push around at the grocery store.
Suprisingly it is easier to drive than a regular one even though it is twice the size.

Deo is clapping and saying YAY! it is the cutest thing. The way he says yay in this little high pitched voice makes me just want to squeeze him everytime. He is pointing his little finger at everything now too. Oh yeah and he is obsessed with his ball. He throws it and kicks it and chases it all day. The ball game never gets old. He is also obsessed with shoes, the refridgerator, toilet paper, remote controls, and cell phones. Getting him to eat anything healthy is also still impossible, his daily menu consists of oatmeal (with maple syrup and cinnamon and apple sauce in it), pancakes (at least they are whole wheat ones)with maple syrup of course, eggs and toast with jelly on them, mixed fruit chunks, YoBaby yogurt, soy pudding, macaroni and cheese (I hide some carrots in there), sometimes the gerber broccoli and cheese, and bread with cheese on it. Those are all about all he will eat right now. I have to waste so much food sometimes, I make one thing and he makes poop noises at it so I have to find something else. He goes "MMMM" when he likes it.

More fun at the Gym! We went to an actual class for his age group and it was fun. We sit in a circle first and sing a hello song. Then we do things like tumbling, magic carpet rides, bucket rides and have play time. The best is parachute time at the end where we shake the parachute and go up and under it. I felt like I was five again too. I guess we are going to get a member ship and go to classes every week. It is super expensive (in the Jewish area of Aventura where all the rich people bring their kids) but I think we should do it so he learns to socialize and play nice with other kids. I am going to look around for other things to do to, but this is cool because it is indoors, like a playground that is airconditioned. And there is no sand with bugs in it. Here are some pics at the class.

MY GYM!!!!
Deo's new fun place

Monday, August 14, 2006

I havent posted in a while.....actually have not had much time for anything other than entertaining Mr Deo. He just started crawling 2 days ago and he is all over the place. His poor little knees are a mess! We spent last month in Mass with my family. Having help with the baby was such a relief. We had such a good time! he is eating mostly people food now, and he is getting picky. All he wants to eat is yogurt. I m thinking about puttting veggies in yogurt to see if I can trick him into eating them.
We went to MY GYM today for the first time. It was open gym, I added a pic of the gym so you can see. He was the youngest but just as big as the 1 year olds. He seemed to like it, he enjoyed the ball pit and tramoline. He screamed all the way home in the car. He was tired out I think and went right to bed when we got home.
